If a change to an organization workspace returns 403 with billing_expired, Workspaces reports the organization as expired. Its trial has ended, and neither its subscription status nor a billing exemption allows write access. Read access remains available. This page covers hosted Workspaces. Self-hosted instances do not use hosted trials or billing enforcement.

Check the organization status

You must be an organization admin to see billing status.
  1. Open the organization.
  2. Open the Workspaces tab.
  3. Find the Billing card below the shared workspaces.
During the trial, the card shows the days left and end date. If Workspaces reports the organization as expired, admins also see a Read-only chip in the organization header. Members do not see those admin controls. Ask an admin to confirm the deadline.

Fix common billing questions

Changes still allowed after expiry

Organization admins can remove members, change roles, and rename or delete the organization. Workspace owners can revoke existing guest links. You cannot invite a member, create a guest link, or edit an organization workspace. See What happens when a Workspaces trial ends for the full read-only list. See Manage a Workspaces subscription for checkout and customer-portal steps. Reviewed July 22, 2026. Maintained by the Plannotator documentation team.
